One area where most less experienced travelers will get caught up is when they present their luggage prior to boarding. Many individuals will pack one heavy bag after another as if they were an over-prosperous woman from a sixties era movie. Remember how these women would travel about with their stylish little pampered poodles and twenty stylish bags? Whether you do or not - this isn't the way to travel anymore. In fact, such a display can look awkward or even silly. Also airlines charge fees for all that additional baggage and place restrictions on the number of bags too.
In order to make matters convenient check with the airlines and find out the largest luggage size allowed. This may address the need to carry a fair amount of stuff plus if you can manage not to pack every square inch you'll have room to stow away some treasures you purchase overseas.
Some experienced travelers advise others to wear as many layers as possible when traveling. This will reduce the weight of your bags. However, when traveling to a tropical destination this may not be such a good idea.
If you truly have a problem with over-packing the way to remedy the problem is first make a list of everything you are taking with you on your overseas trip. Once you get home, review your list and make a check or cross off each item you didn't use. This will help you assess how many of the items you brought with you were really necessary.
In order to implement this idea, unpack your items carefully once you are overseas. Everything you've worn or used keep in a separate area from those articles you have not used or worn. You don't want to pull out items from your suitcase and throw them helter-skelter once you reach your destination or you'll never conquer over-stuffing your luggage.
Don't bring larger size bottles of shampoos and other toiletries especially when flying overseas. You can use smaller bottles to carry soaps and shampoos; however, a better idea, since the airlines are strict nowadays about carrying liquids and gels, is to use the hotel's shampoos and soaps. Also you can buy soap and liquid items once you reach your destination. If it is going to cause nightmares when going through security: Why bring any liquid or gel items at all particularly since they are items readily available for purchase?
