Comfort is Key

People who are traveling overseas for the first time may find their flights present a challenge since such travel is considerably lengthier than what they may be accustomed. Certainly, the half-hour flights they may be use to taking from one one-hundred mile destination to the next is small potatoes in comparison to an international flight arrangement. In this case it becomes important to make yourself as comfortable as possible during the lengthier journey. The following tips will help you make it comfortably to your overseas venue without a great deal of effort.

First off, the pressurized cabin presents a challenge to the traveler of lengthier flights. When the flight lasts for so many hours, this will tend to make you dehydrated, so don't forget to bring a bottle of water. You'll be pleased you stopped by one of the airport vendors and made the H2O purchase prior to departure.

Bring a pair of comfortable, thick fleecy socks. Place them in your carry bag or even wear them onto the plane. Plane cabins can become a bit chilly, especially during long flights. By having warm socks right to hand you needn't worry about getting cold feet.

Purchase a pair of quality headphones and use them instead of the brand provided by the airlines, which are usually cheap and nasty due to the fact that airplanes like to cut costs wherever possible. So in order to enjoy your music properly, bring your own. But accept the airline's brand of headphones so that you can use their adapter to ensure you can plug your own set of headphones into their outlet properly.

The cabin air will probably dry your skin out, so make sure you bring plenty of lanolin-enriched skin lotion. Apply it before departure and during the flight. Skin that is dry and itchy makes you feel irritable so avoid it altogether by keeping lotion on your skin as well as maintaining proper levels of hydration.

Remain as mobile as possible during lengthy international flights. If you don't do so the inactivity can cause you all sorts of health problems. One problem can present in the form of a blood clot which can be dangerous. This can be avoided by making it your habit to get up on the hour every hour. Walk up and down the aircraft a couple times on the hour and you needn't worry about clots.

For the same reason it's best not to wear tight or ill-fitting clothing when you have to sit for hours on end — even if you have stretched and walked. Wear clothing that is looser fitting which presents no problem with circulation. Even though traveling on business you can still dress casual-comfortable and avoid looking rumpled when exiting the plane. Wear clothes made of a cotton-blend. If the item is completely cotton it will wrinkle. Cotton-blends offer comfort without crushing.
